Description

Hello ! Hope you're alright, here's a illustration of Qrow, my favorite character in RWBY.
I wanted to share with you my arguments to explain why I think Qrow is the real father of Ruby. Listen to me, because it's really important !
I worked about one week to come up with all of thoses clues.

===========

1- In the present state of our knowledge, the chronology is as follows. Tai went out with Raven fist, with whom he had Yang. Then, Raven left without any real explanation (certainly to return to her tribe). Yand and Ruby only have two years of differences (in one of the first episodes, Yang tells Ruby that she is going to Beacon two years ahead), it would mean that Tai quickly turned the page to go out with Summer, and have a child, all this very quickly because a child does not happen in a day.

2- Why didn't Tai try to follow Raven, to make her come back to reason ? When Yang announces that she wants to find her mother, at the end of season 3, he tells her "I've stopped you once, I will not do it again", why doesn't he accompagny her ? She was his wife before being her mother. Doesn't he also want to accompany Yang to protect her against all the new dangers of the Grimms ? Tai is an always cheerful and optmist character, he seems incredibly carefree and detached from everything that happens. Why didn't he come to Beacon when things began to feel bad ? Moreover, when Tai accompagnies Ruby to the grave of Summer, never he places himself beside her in front. Never did Tai speak of Summer, and even when it was necessary to explain the concept of silver eyes, it was to Qrow to do it. The series shows very few interactions between Tai and Ruby, focusing above all on the assumed paternity of Tai with Yang. Whether in combat style or appearence, althought this time, Yang is a good compromise between the two appearences of Tai and Raven. We feel very well the opposition during the season 4, between Tai/Yang and Ruby/Qrow.

3- Let's clear up one thing. Monty made it very clear that Qrow was not Ruby's father before he died. Do you really believe everything the series creators say about their series so as not to spoil the surprise of the story ? To take an exemple, GoT and the famous "Jon Swon will not come back, he's really dead". Monty was clearly not going to sell the wick for a detail he had perhaps planned to confess in far more distant seasons.

4- Here are the names of the STRQ team:
- Summer Rose - Taiwang Xiao Long - Raven Branwen - Qrow Branwen.
Yang is called Xiao Long, but Ruby is called Rose. If Ruby is truly the daughter of Tai, shouldn't her be name "Ruby Xiao Long" ? Are the names randomly given in this world, or was if just more beautiful in the ear ? Maybe a tribute to Summer after her death, but let's be honest: why this difference in surnames, if it's not to hide the true affiliation of Ruby ?

5- A theme that I like a lot in relation to the RWBY series, is its musics and the musical dressing of its episodes. Here, we'll talk about the theme of Qrow, "Bad Luck Charm". Beyond being an ode to the semblance of Qrow, it can be discerned that if it starts at the beginning of its fight again the scorpion faunus, the lyrics of the song is declaimed at the moment when Ruby insists to participate to the combat. This kind of choice is, in my opinion, as important as the song itself. But before speaking about the lyrics, I will directly quote the wiki page of the song that says: "During the fight between Qrow and Winter in" It's Brawl in the Family ", the commentary track describes his theme as taking inspiration from "Red Likes Roses", but distord and changed." The theme of Qrow is related to the theme of Ruby, this one speaking of his relationship with his deceased mother. If this didn't already provide an additional precision, let's look at the lyrics of the song, on this one precisely: "You and I are not the same, you do not want the burden of my name." The burden of my name, it can only mean one thing: Qrow who says he can not assume Ruby's paternity because of his evil eye.

6- Lighter now, at the very end of the last episode of season 4, we hear the song "Hope". Everyone focuses on the fact that she is writing to Yang, and that's true. Yang is indeed "a house" for Ruby. But again, the verb is important and it is in the present. But it's Qrow who's by her side right now. You don't have to hide an element, the song begins long before she writes, while Ruby checks how Qrow goes. It is clearly stated here that she considers Yang and Qrow as her family. How is this a problem since it is the truth without going into details and theories ?

7-
Let us now turn to a more graphic detail. Indeed, if we speak from the beginning of songs, dubious chronologies and family names, there remains a detail. I said earlier that Yang resembled Tai as much as Raven. But Ruby is at the exact image of her mother. Same eyes, same skin, same hair, even dressing. The only thing that changes is her color code, around white, black and red, something she shares with Qrow. They also share the red cape. Qrow carries a cross to his neck, and Ruby also wore crosses at her belt. They both possess a scythe as well, and in a world so original in its weapons, this resemblance is suspicious. The only characters with similar weapons have a very strong connection: such as the rapier for Weiss and Winter, sisters, as well as the shield/sword of Pyrhha and Jaune, in love. There was also a kind of mystery around Qrow's weapon, the fight between him and Winter stopping just as he was about to deploy the "scythe" form of his weapon, as if it were really important. It is reminded though that Qrow is not supposed to have the slightest drop of blood in common with Ruby.

8- In the end of the last episode of Season 3, Ruby wakes up at home. Tai watched her after seeing how goes Yang, happy to see her daughters at home. When Ruby wants to understand what really happened, Tai was not able to say it clearly and tries to divert the conversation. Qrow enters the room, finishing his flask and asking for a minute with Ruby. Tai, angry, wants to stay but Qrow tells him a simple: "Tai, please." Tai kissed Ruby and goes away, telling him that he'll make some tea. Leaving the room, Tai and Qrow exchange a glance. The eyes of Tai were so full of hatred that it is almost too good to be true. But what is the anger he feels towards Qrow ? (note that this is the only interraction we will see between these two characters) As a matter of fact, Tai should no longer count his bow to Qrow who has always been there to protect Ruby, whether in their childhood or just at the Beacon Tower.

Qrow settles down and talks to Ruby about his specificity: the silver eyes. Am I therefore the only one to find it strange that it is Qrow who must explain this particularity that Ruby shares with his mother, rather than Tai, if really Tai is his real father? "You are special, Ruby. Not like" Daddy loves his special angel "... You're special the same way your mom was." Doesn't this phrase say by Qrow seem suspicious, in view of all that we have just seen? Words have an important connotation, how to use them equally. When Ruby asks how he knows what Ozpin told her during their first meeting, Qrow carefully avoids the question, explaining that his missions came from Ozpin. Certainly a roundabout way of telling him that it was simply Ozpin who told him. Even if it could also be said that Qrow was perhaps present at that time, still watching Ruby from afar.

9- I am addressing this time to those who refuse this theory not because of lack of evidence but because it doesn't "please" them. Basing this taste judgment on the fact that if Ruby and Yang were not truly sister, it would be "not as good". First of all, it is established that they are only half sisters. In addition, Ruby loves her "sister" as much as her "uncle", they are just labels. My theory would make them no longer half-sisters but cousins. How could the link be less strong, because the most important here is their experiences and not their labels? Too bad to have such a restrictive vision.

10- I would now respond to people who say that all this is simply explained by the fact that he is her teacher at Signal and her uncle as a rule. So what ? If Qrow is a teacher at Signal, he was certainly the teacher of Yang also. Why take that much care of Ruby when he was not his uncle of blood? For a girl as strong and independent as her, why be so glued up her style to Qrow? She herself says in the very first episodes of the series that she built her weapon all by herself, and that she considers weapons as extensions of themselves. So, she would like to be the extension of Qrow? Also, how does a constantly drunked man do to be a teacher? Would he have used his contacts to be accepted in order to be always closer to Ruby? In season 3, we learn that Qrow had been sent to the enemy for very long months as a spy. How could he have been a teacher at Signal? I think it was just a blanket, and he voluntarily abandoned it when Ruby moved to Beacon.

11 -
If this theory is correct, that is how I see things precisely:
Raven and Tai were together, had Yang. Raven fled. Meanwhile, Summer and Qrow were doing their missions together. As Qrow says, those who have silver eyes are destined to lead a warrior's life. Stop to found a family should not even be conceivable in the eyes of Summer. So, when Ruby was born, it is a safe bet that the couple entrusted her to Tai, already a single father of Yang, during their missions. So, Ruby and Yang still lived together. They often had to meet up with each other, Tai, Qrow, Summer, Ruby and Yang, explaining the Yang's memories of Summer's cookies. She would not have accepted Raven's departure from Yang and would have done her best to be a little surrogate mother. It must have been a strange but very fusional family. One day of the mission, Summer dies -certainly the fault of Qrow, or at least he will persuade himself of it because of his Semblance. Tearing and refusing to put the evil eye to someone else, he would have decided to leave Tai with Ruby and Yang, asking him to hide from Ruby his paternity so as not to make her suffer. Tai would then have raised the girls by saying that Ruby was her child and Summer her second wife. It is certainly since that day that Qrow began to drink to forget. This would immediately give Tai a depth, a kind of wheel that was swung in all directions, between Raven who leaves him a child and abandons him, serve as a nanny to Summer and Qrow for finally single father and solitary with two kids. Yang was too young to remember the truth, but said his father "more or less cracked". Even in my theory, there would be reasons for him to crack.

Hope you'll like my arguments. I needed to put it down with an illustration, before the beginning of the season 5. Sorry for my english, I am french.

This is a really good pic. Thou I don't really agree with the theory.

I'm not trying to hate on you or anything, I just don't see the point of this theory. I think the 2 are fine the way they are.
